Art Overload (and thank you)

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 5, 2007, 1:50 PM
*BIIIIG* thanks to ^ArtisticAunJuli for the 3 month sub for me and *yeji522!

I said that I would do =grugster's new tag thing when next I had a sub and now I do (danke *BikerScout!) here it is:

1. Tell me the 5 persons that you immediately think about when you hear DA and show me something from them?
~SheldonSands

*Happy-Bird

`athenatt

*jackieocean

*milbisous

2. What is your favorite kind of art here on DA and why?
I love the melancholic style as seen in works by de Chirico and Spilliaert. I'm not fussed what medium, but the majority I've seen on dA is traditional.

I also love still lifes:

(special mention to *yeji522 she's so good!)

3. What is your favorite kind of colour and what image do you combine with it here on DA?
My favourite colours are blue, green, and turquoise.

4. What are you favourite movies and what images or artist here on DA are reminding you of them?
My favourite movie is In the Mood for Love:

5. What are you favourite books and what images or artists here on DA are reminding you of them?
I don't think I've read my favourite book yet. These are some recent reads anyway.
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami:

Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki:

Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote (I say recent but I read this over a year ago)

6. What are you favourite countries and what images or artists here on DA are reminding you of them?
Rather typically Japan, although I also like the majority of cold countries, plus Peru and Cuba.

And the whole of =mazisexton's gallery:

7. What are you favourite animals or plants and what images or artists here on DA are reminding you of them?
My favourite plant is the orchid flower:

My favourite animals are cats:

8. What are you favourite element and what images or artists here on DA are reminding you of it?
My favourite element is water, especially in an ice form:

9. Which art or which artists do you admire here on DA most?
`athenatt and *xialaceleste - both super lovely no matter what.

10. Are there any artists or images that you admire a lot and wish that one day you will be capable to do the same?
*moyan - has beautiful ideas and executes them brilliantly:

~reynaldomolinawire - love how he has mastered this unusual medium:

~zhuzhu - who doesn't admire his digital style?!

And all good watercolour artists. I've never got anywhere with watercolours, so I really admire those who can work well with them:

I'm not actually going to tag anybody though, because when I did in the past nobody actually wanted to do it.

Just a quick journal to say that I'll be starting my second year of uni soon, so I'll probably be non existent on dA! In the meantime check out these people:

~HagenEbejer
~thewho78 (N.B those blue drawings are done in ballpoint pen!)

And those of you with subs should all do this: [link]

I've been tagged by :iconargentinian-queen:

The rules:
1. post these rules
2. each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves
3. tags should write a journal of these facts
4. at the end post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
5. go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged

1. My favourite genre of art is not in fact realism, but the sort of melancholic style seen in Spilliaert's work. (That sounds so emo.)

2. Because I am allergic to flowers, I had to use a make-your-own perfume website to find perfume that doesn't make me sneeze!

3. Although like music... I can never be bothered to put it on, whether it's a CD, on the the PC or on my MP3, and I am never up to date with new bands because I can also never be bothered to music tv. Similarly, although I enjoy reading, I've yet to read a book that I'd call my favourite. I just never completely like a book... though I don't read very often.

4. Though I have a mega Japanese obsession, my favourite films are Chinese, and my favourite cuisine is Mexican.

5. I always have this temptation to drink a full bottle of maple syrup - I love it so much! Never have done it though.

6. I could happily live in constant winter. It'd be no chore whatsoever.

7. I detest bad manners, and because of this I will reply to every comment I get, thank for every fave, and return every watch!

8. I am far too boring for 8 interesting facts.

I won't be tagging anyone because... because. *nod*

Bye bye.

Helloooo again!

  • Listening to: Kings of Leon - Because of the Times
  • Watching: House
  • Eating: Hummus
I've finished uni for this year, so you should see more of me. I may take some time replying to comments and faves as my message centre reads as " 6,175 deviations, 3,365 messages" and I no longer have a sub, but I'll get there!

In the meantime, check out ~Schendzielorz's gallery. There's only two deviations so far, but damn are good!

If there's something you want not listed there, leave a comment and I'll tell you when it's available.
